A tribute to Bernie Sanders, whose iconic mittens were made by Jen Ellis, a Vermont teacher who sewed them from upcycled sweaters. These use the same colors and motifs around the entire hand, knitting in the round with increases for thumb gussets, and then picking up stitches to finish the thumbs.
The pattern is written for those who are familiar with basic mitten knitting and has not been extensively tested.
This kit contains 4 skeins of super wash wool. 1 each in cream, beige, medium brown and dark brown.
Pattern calls for size 4 & 6 DPNs or long circular needles for magic loop
