Every year, we partner with the wonderful team at Miss Babs to create a special project exclusively for our Knit Ahead Members using a yarn that is only available during the annual trunk show. This year, we’re adding a little sparkle to your knitting with a project that’s as clever as it is beautiful.
Introducing the Estrellita Mitt Kits!
Simple garter stitch, dazzling color combinations, and an ingenious construction method come together to create a pair of mitts that are just as fun to knit as they are to wear. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing project or a unique accessory, these mitts are sure to become a favorite.
Our project features the Abscissa Mitts by Star Athena(you can check out her blog HERE!). The name Abscissa comes from coordinate geometry and refers to the x-coordinate of a point on a graph. Take one look at the clever seaming of these knitted squares and you’ll quickly understand the inspiration behind the name! You can learn more about Star Athena and her work on her blog.
The pattern includes two lengths—Short and Long. The Short version requires just one skein, while the Long version uses two skeins and still leaves enough yarn to knit an additional Short pair.
We’re using Miss Babs Estrellita, a wonderfully soft blend of superwash merino wool, nylon, and a touch of lurex for the perfect hint of shimmer. The pattern is worked holding the yarn double, creating a cozy fabric with beautiful drape and subtle sparkle.
