One of my favorite knits of all time. Big needles, chunky yarn and an addictive fair isle pattern made this wardrobe staple a blast to knit. Oversized in it's design, the rug sweater is almost like a fitted poncho with sleeves. We used one of our favorite work horse yarns - Ultra Alpaca Chunky from Berroco. This yarn is a perfect 2 ply blend of luxurious alpaca and Peruvian highland wool. It has wonderful bounce, spring and a hint drape, a combination that lends itself to this design. Our shop sample is knit with Charcoal as the main color with cream contrasts, but Junko knit her sweater using cream as the main color with charcoal.
This kit comes with the "Rug Sweater" pattern by Junko Okomato and 9 skeins of Ultra Alpaca Chunky from Berroco. The pattern is well written, easy to follow and includes clear video tutorials for any new techniques.
You will also need size 9 circular needles - 16", 24" and 32" or Junko recommends 40" for magic loop.
